Does Shadow Assassin count itself when I play it from my trash?
No. When played from your trash, Shadow Assassin moves from your trash to the chain, then leaves the chain as it enters the board. By the time its ready condition applies, that copy is no longer in your trash, so it enters ready only if a different card named Shadow Assassin remains in your trash.
