Shady Spectacles

Outdated: This page was written for version 1.3 of the core rules document and has not been reviewed against the current version (1.4). All links point to rules in the old version. The content, explanations, and described behaviours on this page are entirely based on that older version - the new version may have changed or removed rules covered here, rendering parts of this page inaccurate or obsolete. Does a Reflection token with Temporary lose Temporary after Shady Spectacles makes it a copy of a unit that doesn't have Temporary?

No — it keeps Temporary, no matter what it becomes a copy of.

Shady Spectacles' "becomes a copy of that unit" is a copy effect, and copy effects apply in the trait-altering layer — the first of the layers used to resolve continuous effects.[472][472.1][472.1.b] This layer replaces the equipped unit's traits and rules text with the chosen unit's.[472.1.b.1]

The copied unit not having Temporary doesn't matter — copying it doesn't strip Temporary from the token, because the two effects operate in different layers. Granting a keyword like Temporary happens in the ability-altering layer, applied right after the trait-altering layer.[472.2][472.2.a] A Reflection token's Temporary comes from a separate effect — Deceiver's conquer-or-hold ability or Mirror Image's effect — that already applied when the token was created, before Shady Spectacles ever attaches. Since that grant sits in a different layer, Shady Spectacles' copy effect has no say over it, and it keeps applying no matter what the token becomes a copy of.
