Graves, Blasting Through
Unofficial Riftbound rulings for Graves, Blasting Through, with rules explanations, examples, and Core Rules citations.
Current text
When I attack or defend, deal damage equal to my Might to all enemy units here.
I don't deal combat damage.
Can I play a unit from face down after Graves, Blasting Through's ability kills all my defenders?
Yes, at your next legal opportunity, if the unit was hidden at that battlefield on an earlier turn and can otherwise be legally played.
The cleanup after Graves's ability may kill your last defender, but the ongoing combat prevents control of the battlefield from changing. You therefore still control the battlefield, and the facedown card stays there. The facedown unit can still be played.
Example
Graves attacks alone, and his ability kills every defending unit. At your next legal opportunity, you play Evelynn, Entrancing from face down at that battlefield. Graves deals no combat damage, and Evelynn's 2 deals only 2 damage to the 4 Graves, so neither unit has lethal damage. Because Evelynn remains as a defender, Graves is recalled. Evelynn's controller retains control, so Graves's controller does not conquer the battlefield.
